Filium^® is a new eco-friendly, anti-odor technology that gives natural fabrics supernatural qualities by repelling water, sweat and other liquids, all without sacrificing softness or breathability. Filium^® thermoregulates our rising body temperature by leaving a thin layer of sweat on your skin to cool your body. The balance of sweat evaporates through the natural fabric as your core temperature rises. Filium® is imbedded into the yarn of the garment and does not wash out.

The best way to maximize the performance benefits of Zenkai is to wear a full set. This allows your sweat to drip down and not soak into other moisture-wicking garments you might be wearing. Once finished your workout, take your apparel and shake any excess water off, then hang to dry. In other words: take, shake, and hang!

Zenkai uses only pima cotton in all of our apparel. Developed in the Southwestern USA, this cotton produces fiber of exceptional strength and firmness.

If you are used to wearing polyester and synthetic garments that wick sweat away, Zenkai apparel will feel different to you. When large amounts of sweat are generated in a short time, some sweat will stay on the body and this is a feeling most of us are not used to - yet. This is a good thing, as it means our body’s natural cooling process can take place.

For a large sweat build-up during or after a workout, remove the garment, reverse it and snap it in the air to release moisture before putting it back on. Zenkai apparel dries faster than synthetics and will go from wet to dry very quickly.

When exercising, you are supposed to sweat to regulate your body temperature. When the sweat on your skin evaporates, your body cools down. We've become accustomed to the way synthetic fabrics feel — they trap sweat and rob us of this cooling effect.

When the sweat evaporates from our skin and not your apparel, it keeps us cooler during workouts. This also means you can wear your gear multiple times without having to wash it. You'll get used to having a thin layer of sweat on your skin, and feel the difference it makes in your performance.

Yes, all Zenkai apparel is pre-shrunk. However, since it is cotton-based, if you dry your apparel on high heat there is a chance it will shrink more. The best way to preserve your Zenkai apparel is to hang dry or dry on low/medium heat.

Some Zenkai athletes report wearing their base layer for one month before needing to wash it, while runners find they can wear their apparel for 10 days over 100 miles without washing. Every body is different so we recommend smelling your apparel after each use and tossing it in the wash once an odour becomes noticeable.

You will notice how infrequently you need to wash your Zenkai apparel. Your wallet and the environment will thank you! Just remember: after your workout, take, shake and hang.

Zenkai apparel is water repellent, not waterproof. Apparel still gets wet after being exposed to liquid for a long time, but since it repels liquid, it dries up to 40% faster than regular clothing.

As with other premium pima cotton garments, we recommend washing Zenkai in cold water with a mild detergent only (no bleach or softener). The most eco-friendly way to dry your apparel is to hang it. You can also machine dry on medium heat. Do not add fabric sheets or any other softeners in the dryer. As Zenkai apparel resists stains and odors naturally, it does not need to be tumble dried. Do not wring dry or dry clean.  

Yes, but apparel that needs less washing is now the eco-friendly way. It’s not sweating that makes clothes smell. Sweat itself is odorless. It’s the bacteria from sweat that gets trapped between the fibers in synthetic apparel that creates smell and eventually cannot be washed out. That’s why synthetic garments will forever stink.

Zenkai with Filium^® repels moisture, so bacteria from sweat does not get trapped between the fibers and this is why there is little or no smell for the life of a Zenkai garment and why it needs less washing. Most synthetic apparel's anti-odor technology is applied topically and washes out, putting chemicals into our streams and oceans. Filium^®  technology is embedded into the fabric fibers and does not wash out.

If something spills onto your Zenkai garment, we recommend either rinsing the area with water or tugging on the garment until the liquid has been removed. Do not rub the area, as this will force it into the fabric. If a stain does set into the garment, you will need to wash it using outlined washing guidelines.
