As ocean rowers, we will have extremely limited space aboard the small boat that will be our home for 6-8 weeks as we cross the Atlantic. We also will have limited opportunities for laundry since we have to make all of our freshwater from saltwater using solar power and will each be rowing 12+ hours a day. We were super excited about trying Zenkai’s gear but were somewhat skeptical that we could truly wear these clothes for a whole week without washing. We first gave them a try during a training camp in August in Florida—an extremely hot and humid time of year to be training outside. We wore our Zenkai t-shirts every day for an entire week and they still didn't smell at the end!! Plus all our Zenkai stuff is super soft and comfortable. We’re totally sold! The entire team will be wearing Zenkai clothes for the crossing. We will be taking very limited changes of clothes (e.g. just four t-shirts), but given that we can wear the clothes for so long between washes we probably will get away with just one or two laundry sessions during the entire crossing. And we can feel good that with this cotton-based clothing, we’re not creating lots of microplastics with every wash.
